Sheet Music

Rick Sowash has written more than 200 musical compositions, including choral works, chamber works, art songs and orchestral pieces; the scores and parts for all of these are available directly from the composer. For more information, email him at rick@sowash.com.

Upon request, the composer will assemble and share lists of works that feature various musical forces: violin, cello, flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, keyboard, solo vocal works, choral works, works for various chamber ensembles, string orchestra and full orchestra.

* "Chansonata" is Rick Sowash's coined word for a hybrid musical form, combining the "chanson" (the French word for "song") and the "sonata." Thus: "Chansonata." The intended definition is: a work for voices, with or without accompaniment, in three or four movements, exhibiting musical architecture more typically found in a "sonata" and lyrics unified by a common literary idea throughout the movements. Also, the movements are intended to contrast with each other just as in the movements of a sonata -- ie., Fast-Slow-Fast, etc.
